Cheap light sleeping bag

Although not sure which military bag you are looking at, most everything military is HEAVY. Those Stoic 30 deg bags have proven to be a good buy based on reviews I've read, and also have a pretty true temp rating.

Given that 30F is the lower limit of the comfort range in the bag you provided a link to, the true rating is probably closer to 40-45F. Most *cheap* synthetic bags rated to 30F weigh closer to 3 pounds.

Another possible option: if you are a skinny guy (54" or less peak girth), take a look at the golite's clearance closet. A women's size long (a 6' bag) Adrenaline 1+ Season mummy bag would probably get most men to 30F (as men generally sleep comfortably in temps 5-10F lower than women's rating). 800fp down means the bag is pretty light – 1.5 pounds.

2.5 lbs, less than $100 online (Campmor has it for $90 right now I believe). It is a Western Mountaineering? Nope..but a lot less money and a good budget bag.

Joseph, that's a very good option, I am skinny but I am 6'1". Also I don't see anywhere the packed size for any sleeping bag on golite. I was also thinking about a quilt but I am afraid I might get cold in my back. the Adventure 3-Season Vario Semi-Rectangular seems an option because it can be used in two ways but there is no packed size.
