Going to NZ next year for 5 weeks and wonder which shelter would be more appropriate for NZ conditions. 2 of the weeks I will be sharing the shelter with the GF and the other 3 I will be solo. I am leaning towards the Hexamid+net due to the fact its weighs 21.7oz including groundsheet compared to the DR at 44.8oz but am concerned with storm worthiness. Ive never had either out in any major winds. Also tempted to get a trailstar and see if I can fit my innernet under it but that would be 3 shelters in my quiver and that seems excessive…but the trailstar does seems like the shelter of choice for high winds.
Edit: I also have the clip in liner for the DR if anyone think that condensation management is an issue I should address. Also the tarp has the beak and the pyranet has 10" cuben sides for splash guard.
