Andrew Skurka (from Ultra light in the ice box) used an over boot while hiking

“The Timberland Cadion XCR boots worked well – they are lightweight (for boots) and supportive, and they fit great. However, for someone who is very accustomed to running shoes, I think a more preferable set-up utilizes the Forty Below “Light Energy” overboots (available soon, I’m told) – the fit will be more natural and predictable, the weight difference is negligible, and the system is warmer.”
To me this means I can use my North Face, Gortex, XCR light weight (sneaker/shoes ?) along with these ‘over boots’ for winter hiking.

Has any one out there done this?
Can you tell me how you made out?
Thanks
