Bushbuddy Question !

I emailed Fritz a while back. Part of his response answers your question.

"There was some buckling of the thinner material that I used
for
the firebox wall on Ryan's prototype that did not bode well for
longevity.
The .010" stainless that I am using now for this part of the
lightweight
stove is the same material that I use for the regular Bushbuddy stove.
This

When I ordered mine from Fritz last fall, he had the following to say about the 4 oz version (Arctic 1000) versus the Ultra (BPL) model:

[the Ultra]"… weighs five ounces, not four. The reason for this is that I thought the .004" stainless I used for the firebox wall {in the Arctic 1000) might not be durable (I noticed some buckling of the thin sections between the secondary air holes). The .010" that I am using now in the firebox is the same thickness that I use in the regular Bushbuddy."

I love my Ultra model and have found the extra durability to be well worth the extra ounce.

Does anyone have any idea for the projected life span of this? It does seem pretty durable.

People were obviously excited, as they sold out in a matter of hours.

Uhh, yeah. Wasn't quite expecting the BB demand. This is supposed to be one of those fringe things, I thought?

But, cool! Hail hail woodstove cooking! What a fantastic skill to learn.

Yeah, I'm kind of afraid something like this is going to happen with the Cocoon line. Back when the first production run was announced, BMW accepted preorders. However many people hollered about waiting after paying. But with the new policy, now I stand a 50/50 chance of being out on a trip, while my long-anticipated hoody finds another man…. Sigh.
