Hey everyone, I've been working at cutting down some weight from my pack (which last summer crept near 30LBS for a 3-4 day outing) and I would love to get some more feedback on an edited list. I know that I could cut to a lighter pad but I wanted something substantial (I'm 6'3, 195), the same goes somewhat for the tent. Some of the weight (tent/food) has already been treated as two person weight as I rarely (if ever) go solo. All in all, I think it's a massive improvement over last year.

Your list looks good so just a few small ideas:

    1. Get rid of the dry sack and rain cover. Use a trash compactor bag on the inside of your pack and put your sleeping bag and clothes inside it.
    2. 100 ft of chord for what?
    3. Leave the seam sealant at home.
    4. Fire-sub bag = 1 or 2 mini bics. Work just as well and weigh less.

You could do all those things and it would cost you very little. The other thing I would consider (which would cost some dough) is switching your cooking setup to a Caldera Cone/Fosters beer can setup. The whole deal with enough fuel for 3-4 days would weigh a bit less than what you have now.

I don't know the clothing items (shirts, pants, etc) so I can't comment on those. Where will you be backpacking and under what type of conditions?

    Nice gear list!

Like Erik said, I'm wondering what that 100ft of cord is for? Bear bagging should only require ~50ft
Maybe look into a lighter pad, 25oz for that pad is pretty heavy. Check out the Neoair's

Curious how you arrived at 46oz for the Quarter Dome. Thats the same tent I use for all my non solo trips, and mine weighs 63oz with titanium stakes, without the stuff sacks. So if you were splitting it in two that'd be 92oz, which is 2lbs heavier than what I'd expect.

The dry sack was just a convenient way to stuff the Sleeping Bag down small. I definitely will cut a bit of cordage (I've always liked to just have a little extra). The seam sealant will stay at home for sure. As for clothes it's just summer wear, mostly White Mountains type outings.

John, I arrived at that weight for the T2 Plus because I plan on carrying the tent body/rainfly and that was what it weighed out to. I was planning on my counterpart to carry the stakes/poles for the tent. It'd be nice if we could cut it cleanly in two and have it weigh 36 oz apiece.

Woops, guess I didn't think of that haha
I read it as "T2" plus(like add) fly and body, meaning the entire tent.
    I see now
