Hello everybody,
I've been a pretty voracious reader of this site for years now, but I almost never post because I don't often have much original first-hand experience to lend someone with regard to ultralight technique. I'd regard myself as a lightweight guy, rather than UL … probably still around 12-14 lbs. baseweight for a typical trip. I'm slowly making the transition, mind you …
But I'm in need of some advice. I just bought a new GG Crown VC 60, and I'd like to get a correct fit. It should be as easy as just trying both sizes on, right? Not so. Both the Regular and the Large feel fine at certain configurations … both feel a little funny in others. I think it all comes down to where the shoulder straps are supposed to attach to the pack. I've read a couple conflicting things about how they're supposed to fit. One place said straps should attach to the pack even with one's shoulders; another says the straps wrap around your shoulders and should attach 1-2" below the the tops of the shoulders. I guess I've never thought too much about it; I've just taken it for granted that my old pack (Gregory Z65) fits me the way it's supposed to. So which is it?
(Thanks for humoring the moron, too, by the way …)
