My wife and I are looking for suggestions for a primitive cabin/yurt located within a few hours of North Idaho. This would be to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary, end of May (but can do mid-week, to avoid Memorial Day).
Hike-in is just fine–my wife has been a backpacker in the past but doesn't want to sleep on the ground for our anniversary. Day hike opportunities and mountains are desired. Early season conditions are assumed (we can borrow snow shoes if need be).
We are pretty flexible with location. East slope of (North) Cascades, Columbia Gorge, Selkirks, Selway-Bitteroot, etc.
Other ideas welcome–for example, would it be worth hoping on the Empire Builder and taking the train to Glacier NP?
