Tarp size for 1.5

There's a ton of threads discussing cat vs. rectangular tarps, just do a quick search.

As far as coverage, the MLD Duo is adequate for two adults in my experience, so you should have space for yourself and a dog. If you want plenty of room to spread your gear out and cook under the tarp with the dog, look elsewhere.

Another example of a great 1.5 Tarp is the Gossamer Gear SpinnTwinn or SilTwinn. They have a Cat cut and therefore are primarily used in an A Frame pitch.

Also looking at the Mld Trail-star, cool looking tarp . That might be the way to go. Cuben version is 10.5 oz, although Im not sure if the cuben version would be as good a material as the silnylon for a tight pitch with that shape; anyone here have experiences with these 3 tarps??

My 13 yr old son and I have been using a homemade Tyvek 9×6 tarp, even using it in a pretty good rain the other day with good success. I'm 6' 3", 200 lbs and it gives just enough room for us to sleep and keep our gear dry, but feels narrow with both of us using it and I would like another foot or so of width. I will likely make a 9×7 in the near future but I think one adult with a dog would do fine with either a 6 or 7 foot width.
