Does anyone on here have experience with these poles? Reviews elsewhere seem pretty good and for $55, the price seems hard to beat.

I've never used hiking poles before, but will start using them soon (also need them for my new tarp).

Is vibration dampening worth the weight penalty?

Are elliptical poles a better way to go? Is the extra strength necessary.

Any other poles recomended instead of these? I'd like to stay in the under $100 price range.

The BD Trail Ergo Cork poles have served me well. My only gripes are that the straps seem to slip on occasion and that they are somewhat heavy to carry if I am not using them. The flick locks are solid. Cork handles are nice. For the price, I say they are good and rugged, a nice pair to loan out if you ever get lighter poles. I am still on the fence about getting carbon fiber Gossamer Gear LT4 poles, they would have snapped easily in many of the places my BD poles have been. If they only made Titanium poles…
