At the end of December a bunch of us were posting our "Big Sky Blues" regarding the forever wait for our Evolution tents. At that time I suggested that new Evolution owners could meet at this year's ADZPCTKO. This is a weekend campout kick off for those hiking the PCT in 2007, and other interested hikers. This year it takes place Friday, April 27 thru Sunday, April 29. As a section hiker, I have attended for the past two years and had a great time meeting folks we all read about. Yogi, Gottago, One Gallon, Meadow Ed, Billygoat, Shamu's Trainer, Lookout & Hugemongous, Santa, and many more. Go to the ADZPCTKO home page and check it out.

For you gearheads there have been a number of equipment manufacturers showing off their goods: Big Sky (bring your tar and feathers), ULA, Gossamer Gear, Tarp Tent, LuxuryLite, Leki, Six Moon Designs, and more. There are also workshops, lectures, slide shows, movies and a silent auction.

If you are interested post me a PM and lets begin to get organized. Reservations open this month and if we get a group together I suggest reserving adjacent campsites. The camping is free and they feed us too. I usually give them a generous donation and my heartfelt thanks for the effort.

I highly doubt that Big Sky wants to appear in public at this point in their 'evolution'; considering how many people they screwed over for tents/refunds. I can envision an angry mob of buyers with torches heading for his display….but hey, now that you got one enjoy it!

Actually, Bob Molen doesn't seem to have any qualms about stringing people along. I read that his company showed up at the recent Outdoor Retail Winter Market and blithely told everyone that all orders have been filled — and its new factory will fix order delays in "early 2007".

Notice how BS alwsys picks a date just a vague few weeks away — no matter what and when you ask?

Sorry for going on a tangent. Now back to ACTUAL OWNERS who want to join up…

Ben,

We could overwhelm Bob if owners and usta-wanna-be-owners showed up. It could be the Alice's Restaurant, Evolution 2P Interested Parties Movement. With 4 part harmony and feeling.

Sorry. I was just trying to keep it light. No stakes. No ant hill.

Mitchell, I like it. If everyone buys in we need to act as soon as they open reservations. See if we can get a "group discount.&quot. If there turns out to be 5 or 6 arriving San Diego near the same time, I'll spring for a van to transport us to and from. Flight schedules allowing.

Regardless of the intent to meet to discuss strategies for dealing with BS (interesting initials — yes?, I think it would be great just to get together with any other Lightweight packers from this site. I'd love to meet the many of you that I have conversed with on a forum thread. Since the campout is 20 miles north of the US Mexican border, many of us from SoCal are well sited to make this annual event, something I have never done. Also a great opportunity as Denis points out to meet some of the vendors we have all read about and bought gear from. So, let's expand this to encompass a larger purpose — meeting other members of BPL. (I have no objection to those who want to bring along Tar and Feathers for the BS necktie party. Maybe someone should think of having a Process Server along.)
