I just bought a new pair of Cascadia 6s since they were on sale for under $70. After only wearing them in my living room, I am trying to decide whether or not to keep them. This is my first pair of trail runners for hiking purposes. I have read that the 7s are better and I am wondering if I should ignore cost and send these back for the 7s or consider a different pair of trail runners.
What I do like is the fairly wide toe box and the "rock plate". What other shoes offer this?
What I don't like about these is how heavy they feel for not having ankle support. If I'm trying to get away from heavy boots and do must of my hiking in the southeast, is there any reason to consider a lighter (than boots) option with some ankle support? My pack is 20-25 pounds w/ food and water on avg.
I am also concerned about the heel-toe drop. Though I do not tend to have as much of a forefront strike when I walk as when I run, I am wondering if I should be picking a trail runner with less of a heel-toe drop than these Cascadias.
Your thoughts are appreciated!
