Simply put: Lots and lots of hills, long uphills, traffic can busy on wknds and leaf peeper season but it is slow moving. Pay attention to water stops, camping spread out so might need to stealth camp, any roads leaving the parkway and will require a long steep return. In other words do your homework, know your ability. I'll report back after my trip, still working on it.
Road closures: The first one, Doughton State park, is an important campground for bike touring. This needs closer inspection if biking through this section.
