Was going to turn my Hexamid into a Wild Oasis like shelter and use my 4 oz MYOG cuben poncho as a ground cloth for a total shelter/stakes/poncho weight of around 12 oz.
HOWEVER, the Hexamid mod is going to cost me more than most of the used Wild Oasis' I have seen sold here. But, if I could save enough weight by modding the Wild Oasis, I'd consider a used Wild Oasis and combine it with my MYOG poncho. SMD claims the Wild Oasis is 13 oz. That + my 4 oz poncho + 2 oz stakes = 19 oz. Don't really want to be adding 6 oz to my pack weight.
Is it possible to lighten up the Wild Oasis (without removing the screen) and if so, what are the guesses as to how much? I know how to sew and am not shy about modifying gear….
