Any one have any trail miles on the new Jam?

How's the new softer foam, and wider hip belt work out with heavier loads? Does the new foam dry fast after it rains?

Is there any advantage in having the cut outs on the hip belt where it attaches to the pack?

Also, I read a 1st look review, that if I interpreted right, said the fabric under the front pocket was thinner. If I cut off the front pocket, will there be thin fabric on the body of the pack where the pocket used to be?

Thanks.

Yes.

Thus far the softer foam seems just fine. The wider belt seems to support loads on the hips better. I've yet to test water absorption, but I don't think the new foam will be problematic in this respect. It's still closed-cell, just more perforated than the 2011.

That the belt attaches to the pack in only two spots seems to maintain load integrity (ie the connect isn't an outstanding source of sag) while blending that with flexibility, ie the ability of the pack to isolate itself from the hip sway of walking and the more exaggerated sway of scrambling and other such activities. A very successful feature carried over from the 2011.

If you cut off the front pocket you would indeed be left with a panel of ~100D fabric. Not flimsy, but less burly than the fabric on the rest of the pack.
