Looking for a hiking/backpacking partner in the Tennessee/Kentucky area. I am interested in one day or multiple day trips. Would be up for several days backpacking outside the Tennessee/Kentucky area also.

Do you have a preference on where in KY/TN? We have an excellent overnight trip planned on May 5th/6th in the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Creek Wilderness. Here is a description of the hike:
"This full moon overnight will begin Saturday morning when we meet at 9 AM in Tellico Plains. From there we will proceed to Beech Gap on the Cherohala Skyway. The hike in to Bob Stratton Bald is moderately strenuous. The first two miles from Beech Gap to Cold Spring Gap is very easy – as it is on a Forest Service fire road. From Cold Spring Gap we will climb – steeply at times – to the meadows at Bob Stratton Bald. Once we arrive at the Bald we will setup camp, lounge, socialize, and enjoy the flowers, birds & butterflies in the meadow. At around 6 PM we will have an optional hike to The Hangover where we will watch the sunset and the moonrise. The Hangover is a spectacular Heath Bald dthat offers amazing views of Citico Creek Wilderness, Joyce Kilmer Slickrock Wilderness, and the Great Smoky Mountains. We will walk back to the meadow in the moonlight. Participants must provide all their own gear and food. A flashlight or headlamp is required for the night hike. We will leave our camping location to return to our vehicles mid-morning on Sunday May 6."

Mar 17, 2012 at 8:32 pm #1855381I generally backpack in Ohio and West Virginia, but it would be fun to explore Tennessee or Kentucky for a change. I'm planning to go on a 1 night group trip to far southern Ohio in April if you're interested in that. I've been starting to think about a solo 1-2 night trip to one of the wilderness areas in WV in May, but I wouldn't mind others joining me.
Mar 20, 2012 at 11:40 am #1856633Hi Tammy,
If you're ever up for a trip to the Smokies, let me know. I've posted a trip request here but didn't get any replies. I hike in the eastern Tennessee area frequently.
cheers,

I live near the Ky/Tn border and hike a bit around here. Big South is a great option. More often I will go to the Tn/NC border. Did a Smokies trip this past weekend. I'm hoping to plan a trip to Savage Gulf soon too. -
