Hello all. I am a new member here, but have been backpacking for a long time.

I recently decided to enter the world of ultralight, and have been in the process of upgrading my gear. I have been looking at several packs, and finally ordered the Mountain Hardwear ThruWay 50.

I ordered a large, and it is 55L capacity, weighing in at 1 lb 14 oz. It will easily hold all of my gear, and is simplistic in design and function, both of which I like.

From the limited information available online, I believe since it is fairly new, it sounds like it is using a new lightweight, very durable fabric called Hardwear X-ply Dyneema.

I was just curious if anybody here has this pack, or experience with it that you would like to share.

Mine will be arriving in 3 days, and I will post some pics and a short initial review.

Here is a link to the MH site that shows pictures and specs for the pack-

Basically the summation of that thread is that nearly everyone is REALLY interested to see how it pans out. It's rare that people on this forum get so excited over a pack from one of the major companies or a pack that isn't made out of cuben fiber. Assuming it lives up to the specs and hype, it should be a great pack.

It looks like MH spent a lot time to add useful features but keep the weight down. I can't afford the pack but am already planning to take some of their design features and incorporate them into a make your own gear pack I have planned for this summer.

You should be happy assuming you can cut your weight to be appropriate for a frameless pack.

My pack showed up today, and I have to say I am very impressed. It is very well built, comfortable, and functional.
The main compartment is very large, as is the exterior pocket.
The hipbelt is super thin, so I ordered up a replacement Alpine hipbelt from MH. It has a lot more padding, and adds 4oz to the pack.
I will try and post some pics this weekend.
My base weight is around 8lbs. This includes my pack, tent, sleeping bag, water filter, and sleeping pad. I am hoping to stay at 20lbs or less. I will be going through my gear this weekend, seeing what I need, what I can live without, etc.
