This is a great forum and thanks for all the helpful info I have gleaned. For my first backpacking experience I decided on and bought an alcohol stove off that Ebay guy and learned to use it and am more than satisfied with the whole alcohol deal, but in an emergency when traveling like potentially running out of or not being able to buy denatured alcohol is it possible to burn an Esbit cube in the alcohol beercan style stove. Would it work and or would it burn too hot and melt the aluminum pop can? The little Esbit cubes seem small and light enough to be easy to carry as an alternative or spare heat source.
