After trying quite a few different pads and waking up in pain every day, I think I have finally found my solution: the 78" long x 25" wide Big Agnes insulated aircore pad. This beast weighs in at 36 oz so definitely not lightweight but getting up in the morning without much back/hip pain seems worth it. Fairly new to UL, my goal is to go as light as possible in everything else, but be able to sleep without a lot of pain and deal with carrying the weight there.
I'm looking now to cut weight on my current setup:
Big Agnes pad (36 oz)
Tarptent Squall2 (34 oz)
Montbell Super Stretch #3 down hugger bag (24 oz)
Any recommendations for a bivy/tarp solution that would accommodate a larger mattress and shave a good amount of weight off the above system? Sounds like I would need some sort of groundsheet/bivy/tarp combo possibly with some bug netting for certain occasions? I tend to shift positions from back to side to stomach sleeping throughout the night as my back starts to hurt.
