This past weekend I did a 5 lb baseweight trip on the Goodwater loop in Georgetown, Texas, about 20 miles north of Austin.

I did the entire loop plus a few sidetrails over two days, Total packweight at the trailhead was 12 lbs 1 oz with 2.5 L of water.

Highs of 65 and lows in the 20's at night, with condensation freezing on the tent wall at night.

Here's some picsGear at the Trailhead At the trailhead.

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I like seeing gear in action. The Gatewood Cape looks great!

Mark, that really is minimalist; very impressive. Can you post a typical gear list at your profile?

Next Friday and I'll have a Gatewood Cape on the way to me! :)

Sorry, but it's just to wonderful a design for me to NOT give it a shot, you know?

Gear list uploaded to my profile.

Some of my gear, less vest, windshirt, sleeping bag, and bivy

The yellow "water bucket" didn't make it.
