All,
I've read a ton of threads on the various styles of H Shires Tarp Tents. I'm looking to get in the market for a 1P tarptent to be used solo on various Scout and backpacking outings (my Scout has his own tent) and am looking to shed some weight. I also have a BA Seedhouse 3SL we use for 2-3 people on other trips and don't want to carry this, when in many cases, I'll be the only person in the tent. I don't need this much room or weight for solo use on these trips.
I have zero plans on carrying trekking poles so I want to look to a tent that does not require trekking poles and don't want a tarp/bivy. I want something with a built in floor and netting that can take some abuse. Doesn't necessarily need to be free standing.
I would like some opinions on why you chose the tent/tarptent you have for solo use, without trekking poles and want to keep the price under $250.
Want to keep the weight under 2.5lbs if possible. Don't mind buying used. Moment? Rainbow? Other options? What you like and what you would change about your solo tent.
I understand this is very subjective, but this is what makes BPL such a great place. Will not be used in the winter, but will be used heavily during the other 3 seasons.
Thanks in advance.
Dan
