I know everybody is tired of the "what pack should I buy" question, but I could really use some help. First the basics.
Me:
6'3" 155lbs, so tall and skinny.
The hikes I would be using the pack for:
This summer – 2 weeks thru-hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail, weekend hikes in the Sierra.
The future – A thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail.
My gear:
-Supercat stove
-AGG 3 cup pot
-Short section of foam for legs sleeping and frame packing (folding or rolled, depending on pack)
-POE Insul Mat Max Thermo 3/4 torso.
-Mountain Hardwear Phantom 32.
-Columbia convertable pants
-Mountain Hardwear ls button up shirt
-polypro long underwear
-Golite Down Vest
-Golite Poncho
-Titanium Goat Bivy
-Golite Den 2 shared for part of PCT?
So I need an ultralight pack that can adapt to the extra water/bear canister/shelter needed in certain sections of the PCT, but I am not sure what to get.
I am considering:
Golite Jam 2: may not be enough for 7 liters of water.
Gossamer Gear Mariposa Plus: Not sure on fit, straight stays.
07 Six Moon Designs Starlite: Don't know much about it, starting to get pricy.
ULA Catalyst/Circuit: getting even more pricy, stories of straps slipping off sholder padding.
Any input as to what pack you think will suit my needs best would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Greyson
