For, um, historical reasons I am partial to carrying a cotton shemagh.

It's a bandana/towel/pillowcase for me. Most are on the order of 42"x42".

John,
I was going to mention my wide mouth Nalgene but then I would have to explain that it has to do with aim not size, so I won't bother.
I side with the bandana folks. The cotton gets better–softer and more absorbent–the longer you use it, so it's better not to take a brand new bandana. An old, soft, floppy one is superior.
My husband prefers LightLoad towels, but I prefer the reusability of a bandana. A LightLoad gets pretty gnarly after a couple weeks and then you have to replace it.
'dana works for me too.
I really like my Cascade Designs PackTowl Nano. I have it in size medium (23 x 18), and its listed weight is accurate—.9 oz. It’s very absorbent for the weight, and once it’s soaked I can wring it out and keep using it.
I carry both that and a bandana on most trips. The bandana gets things clean, and the towel gets things dry. That way even when the bandana gets nasty the towel stays relatively dry and clean most of the time.
just researching travel towels and I run into this thread…handiwipes… LOL you guys crack me up, it's just a cheap and easy solution, I never thought about it.
How many do I need to dry my body? I am 190cm regular body build

Don't think I'd want to wipe my crotch and butt dry with a booger cloth and then sleep on it..
carrying multi use to strange places…
