" Campfires, the original stove and still in use. :) "
Duane, you want to go see the 1981 movie called Quest For Fire.
You could have played one of the bit parts in it.

Bob, just thinking, have you run across Naviguesser (Rick) down south there? A Tequila expert of sorts.

I know about three dozen Ricks. None with Tequila that I am aware of.

Is it just me but why, even with a lot of time reading reviews, can you not work out if a stove will work out for you. No substitute for trying out, sometimes just find a bargain and try it out.
I peaked at owning 4 stoves and sold it down to 1. I'm going to peak at 3 and then possibly get it back down to 2. Question will be which?
So I have my Trangia 27 which I got via beginning with Trangia 25 then Mini-Trangia. So 1 stove.
I have ordered a Jetboil. So then 2 stoves, and some trips out playing which is the fun bit.
I'm trying to figure what pots to do with a Cone, if a pot which works with a JB and a cone makes any sense, and even if I make my own cones so there's less $ wasted as I experiment. Making a cone sounds fun and wastes little $
I'll then try them all and figure what to sell. Due to that, I look after my stuff very carefully. I doubt the JB will end up being sold because it does 1 thing very well – boil fast. But hang-on, the JB boils in 2 mins, the cone in 4mins and in something which is less likely to fall over and a better windshield, so is it worth putting up with the limitations of the JB to save 2mins per boil? What will make it unlikely to be only stove is that is just about all it does well as its sold. I'm seeing the JB stored inside a larger pot with a fissure cone stored between the pots….. and an Alcohol stove in the base of the JB slotted in the fluxring….
Three common duration of trips – overnighter, weekended and 5 days. Overnighter calls for a cone. A weekended calls for a cone. A 5 day…. well on a weight basis including fuel the JB wins as is 461g total including fuel, but 5 days of food all in the JB pot??? Sounds a bit non-fun.
Then there's that most places I'm either camping near wood or I'm walking near wood before camp so then that's zero fuel weight and just a carry a couple of Esbits in case no or only wet wood….
Definitely still in ‘pre-order’ state with minimal info. I agree with you, could be vaporware. BUT if it turns out true, and light enough, it might be an interesting alternative to batteries on the field.
They had this on their website in 2010, but now they’re doing a lot more publicity. It’s looking like it might actually become available now. Apparently they’ve been giving demos to various retailers based on posts I’ve seen on other forums.
If they can get the weight down and the thermoelectric generator is reliable, it might be a very interesting product.
935g
AA batteries weigh 14.5g, so you can carry 64 AA batteries for the same weight. For a 1-week trip you can use your gadget for a few hours a day and recharge with probably 4 AA for a fraction of the weight in something with less to break.
