At the Web page at http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/revivex_down_cleaner.html, it states:

"Here's what we think about ReviveX Down Cleaner relative to other brands (including Nikwax Down Wash): ReviveX Down Cleaner leaves the least amount of unwashable residue on the down (evidenced by washing raw 850-fill down and CDC plumes in various commercial formulations, rinsing it 3X, and then re-measuring loft with a standard fill cylinder power test – using this method, we found ReviveX Down Cleaner to restore loft 8-15% better than competing products)."

What were the results for all of the products? And what was the loss of loft in absolute, rather than relative (%) terms?

I agree, it's a bit hard to understand how big the difference was between the actual products with that statement.

1) What are "CDC plumes"?

2) When Backpackinglight's lab says that "raw" down was tested, do they mean raw, unprocessed, uncleaned, unwashed down straight from the bird, or down that has been processed, but not yet washed again?

3) How was the down dried?

Wild' David, your post above contains some valid questions; maybe the answers will also soon appear here. I often find that when folks read about materials and specs' for seldom purchased items, confusion can result from an over or under abundance of facts.
