Guys
on not too cold trips i use a torso length pad and use my sit pad under my heels and sometimes rucksack under the legs.
Ive been wrestling with how to keep the small pad in place. Saw what Javan did (https://dpcr19kltm61a.cloudfront.net/backpackinglight/user_uploads/1292211742_34147.jpg) do you have any other methods? maybe loops on the bag + toggles or velcro (will it tear the 0.8oz/sqin bag shell??) or the lightweight snap closures…

what are you using?

Mine is 10" X 12" and I just put inside the sleeping bag and it never goes anywhere all night. Of course you have to make sure it is clean and dry but it has never been an issue.

thats a pretty good idea with a groundcloth – thou wouldnt want my 0.8oz/sqyd pertex to touch the cold wet earth …..

If you are worried about adding attachment points to your bag, you could add them to your ground cloth. Maybe just a few simple pieces of adhesive Velcro?

I dont want to use a ground cloth and am trying to keep the bag of the ground by using pad under torso, rucksak under legs and sitpad under heels…

Indeed im concerned about velcro on the bag….

I put mine inside the bivy but outside the sleeping bag. It stays in place okay, not perfect.
