I cut a cheap CCF pad into strips about 10-12 inches wide. I strap 1 (warm weather) to 3 (cold weather) onto the outside of my pack. During a break the pads make pretty good seats. At night I stick them into my bag liner and use them to protect against cold spots where my bag's down gets crushed. Usually under my feet, or on my shoulder or butt when I curl up.
