does anyone know how the eddie bauer BC-200 compares to eVent? i have a REI kimtah event jacket, and im pretty happy with my event jacket, but im looking for something lighter that still has a nice fit that will work for alpine and ice climbing

I cannot comment on the EB, but any event jacket or something similar (Patagonia M10 for example) that is lighter will have a less durable outer fabric.

So it might be good the just use your current jacket and save weight somewhere else.

Otherwise, I have heard good stuff about the Rab Demand Pull on.

The BC200 is an awesome jacket. The First Ascent line is really nice stuff. It is very durable, lightweight and very simply constructed. A 3layer jacket with a full zip for 11oz is very nice specially for $200. I'm about 5' 9" 160lbs and I take a medium. I also have the Front Point jacket which I do not know if they make anymore. That jacket is incredible for ice climbing.

I use the the BC200 for backpacking because it is light enough for me and I am not going to spend anymore money to lose an oz or two. I have not owned an event jacket so I cannot compare them. They are very expensive unless you catch them on sale. EB also has a 100% guarantee on their products. So if you use it and don't like just bring it back for a full refund.

Check Rainer Mountain Guides and Whittaker Mountain Guides. Sometimes they will have used First Ascent gear for sale. Then buy it you won't regret it. I'm not an EB rep either.
