There have been some discussions here saying that Climashield Apex and Primaloft One are both quite good and very close in performance. However recently a major industry player advised me however that Apex is "far better for a quilt".
Can anyone explain why this might be so?
The reason I'm trying to compare the two is that the Hill People Gear serape is a pretty impressive item, but it uses Primaloft Fusion (domestic equivalent of Primaloft One) instead of Apex.

Jan 9, 2012 at 2:16 pm #1822279Climashield requires less stabilization and seems to be better suited to larger panels (like quilts). PL1 has a better drape but requires more quilting. That's my subjective opinion.
Jan 9, 2012 at 3:13 pm #1822304Primaloft One has a clo/oz/yd2 = 0.92 according to primaloft.com
Apex = 0.82 according to thru-hiker.com
Primaloft One will weigh a little less for the same warmth. You also have the weight of the fabric on both sides which is the same for both.
like Chris said – Apex less quilting, just around the edges according to what people have said on this site, One – 3 inch spacing in both directions for under 100 gm/m2 (4.25 oz/yd2), 6 inch spacing for heavier, according to primaloft

mld has more to say about apex here
