I need ideas on cameras that weight less than 5 ozs. With battery and sd or sim card included in weight. Standard 10-12 meg etc. wide angle would be nice.

Right now I've got an Olympus vr 330 on my gear wish list. It's a 12x optical zoom for only 5.5oz. It also has he video recording.

I recently bought a Canon Powershot Elph 300 HS that would fit the bill. It weighs 5 oz. with battery and SD card, 12 meg, 1080 recording. It's a nice little point and shoot.

For Backpacking I highly recommend the Panasonic FT3/TS3

Heavier than you want (197g/6.9oz) but care free and not a bad lens at all.
Great for long exposures…
I have some recent shots from it in the Post Trip section under "celebrating New Year"
(that is actually the TS1 , the 3 is a bit better)

We have a Canon Powershot 780 or so, and we love it. It now has a ton of miles on it and has taken at least 2000 photos. Weighs about 5-6 oz. Still very happy with it.

And we keep the veiwscreen off, which means we can hike for week with only one battery…

IF you want to see some of the photos, check our website.

My new Christmas Canon Powershot S95 weighs 6.94 oz, or 197 g.

That includes battery, memory card, and lanyard.
