Hand knitted ( with very sharp needles).
I found this worsted weight Alpaca yarn, that is not only plied, but each strand is made of six lace weight strands. This makes the yarn much stronger and warmer, but not thicker.
I have a very limited amount of these at this price, as I found a deal on a few skeins. Any subsequent hats made with this yarn will most likely be more expensive.
32.00 shipped and yes, I take returns and repair them for free.

All these hats, including the Merino at the bottom need to be hand washed.

This picture should explain the multi stranded yarn concept. It is not just twisted (plied) , but rather kind of braided.

Nothing has been said in the comments to Ryan's controversial article about artistry in gear! You've achieved it!

You really tempt me to order another one!

Well, my willpower is not as good because I'm going to get another one.

Kat, I sent you an email about the merino brown/turquoise one (#5.)

Hi Kat,

I'm not sure from your post if you have enough to do any more along the same lines as these, but if you do, would it be possible to get a red and green one?

You did me a large bright green with a rolled finish last year. Would it be possible to do a cranberry, with a rolled green edge like you have in the lavender and green one? Size large.

Regards,

Rod

Hi Kat,

If available / possible, I'd like one of your beeeautiiful hats too. I am flexible on colors, would need a large or Med / Large. I like the idea of a solid color in brown or the blues pictured in #3. Thanks & Happy New Year :) BTW, fine on my end to wait for a second run of these.

Hi Michael. I sent you a pm. Let me know if you don't receive one.
Happy holidays as well.

Thanks, Kat. The hat just arrived. Now I can switch off between the blue and grey.

That was all I had but I am heading to town right now to the yarn shop. If they have some, I will pick it up. What other color…or just turquoise?

Kat

These are beautiful how about blue and gray? I would love to buy one and know others that would too.

Let me know and Happy New Year

About the last thing I need is another hat… but that top one is calling out to me… is it still available?

(Assuming you were able to find some)
What do you have that goes good with turquoise?

My thoughts: 1) Lavender? 2) Green? 3) White-ish? 4) Brown

I trust your artistic vision, in "collaboration" with my above-mentioned preferences. PM me with your thoughts and we can continue to discuss it.

PS – found your e-mail on your website. Will get ahold of you that way in just a minute.

Stephan, unfortunately there won't be any turquoise for a good month or more. That particular hand died Merino is now available in that coffee brown, in a dark blue, a pale red, a golden yellow and green. All of these have a variation in colors throughout the skein and come out somewhat mottled. Any of those sound interesting?

Kat,
That #4 hat is awesome. I'd buy if I already have a merino one my wife knitted. If you don't mind sharing were do you get you alpaca and merino wool. She is always making socks, wristies, etc… We always visit yarn store when we travel and she does some purchasing from the net, but she always looking for other sources.

Thanks.
As far as wool sources, I buy at two local stores that carry quality yarns, not like the big chain stores that mostly carry poly and a bit of scratchy wool. Both stores have a web page as well.
The Golden Fleece.
The Swift Stitch.
Both in Santa Cruz California.

Hey Kat,

I'm interested in a hat, can you email me? I've always had issues figuring out the PM system here–my email is ollyisk at gmail.

thanks :)

Wow Kat these hats are beautiful. Question, do you have a red that's redder than the red hat pictured above? I'll send you a message offline. Great looking stuff though.

I have never had a knit hat that fit. My head is enormous (size 8). I asked Kat to make a xxxl. In under a week a beautiful custom one of a kind was delivered. I dig my hat. I have not taken it off. I love that it is hand made. I love it is made by a cute girl. I love it is made in the USA. I have purchased lots of hats some less expensive some more but non as nice and non made to order. Great value two thumbs up.
