Hello All,
I am planning a group trip to Picture Rocks National Lake Shore in Michigan. Our group size will be about seven members. I am thinking about through hiking the park. Are there any recommendations? Any campgrounds we should stay at, or avoid? Also I would like to hammock camp. Does this park lend itself to hammock camping, or would it be difficult? Any information would be helpful.
Thanks,
Paul

If I were you, I'd definitely camp at the Mosquito River Campsite. The site is located right next to a stunning river and Lake Superior. There are also plenty of trout in this river, so I recommend that you bring fishing gear.

The park doesn't provide specific set-ups for hammock camping, so you'll have to make due with what you find.

I would suggest you taking an evening Picture Rock Cruise as this is the only way to truly "Take In" the beauty of the "rocks"

Beware that the midsummer the biting flies can be miserable and DEET does not faze them.

If you have time check out Grand Island National Recreation Area…easy hiking and lot to see. If your biker, you can bring your bike on the ferry and ride the island in one day.
