I stumbled on this at "Green Beetle", a website for new (not surplus) military gear.

But this combo is obviously U.S. surplus, with 4 different grades to chose from at different price levels. Fill is Polarguard HV.

The best quality "Brand New" category, still in factory packaging, is $74.95.
It includes:

>Patrol Bag warm weather -> above 30 F.
>Winter Bag -10 F. to 30 F. Meant to be put inside the Patrol bag for -25 F. use.
>GTX bivy sack
>Stuff sack

I pass this along for new backpackers, people on a strict budget or those with teenage kids who want better prices and quality than they will ever find at a surplus store. (Believe me, I've seen the surplus store bags. They even stink!)

but the starting price is $105.00 for the used set and an additional $74.95 if you want the new set.

On the same topic of Military Bags…

I have the "Official" US Military Sleep system with the Patrol, Intermediate and ACU camo Bivy Bags.

The Ratings are not comfort ratings as normal sleeping bags. The Patrol bag is not even close to a 30 degree bag, more like 45 degrees. the Intermediate Bag by itself is maybe a 40 degree bag at best, and these bags are huge! 66-67" girth at the shoulders. Use both bags together along with the bivy and you are close to 10 lbs.

I love mine for Scout use, and will only use in the winter with all 3 bags together. However, individually, you are better off getting a 20 degree bag from Alps Mountaineering for $55 (through Scout Direct) that weighs 3 lbs. Or any other 3 lb synthetic cheapie 20 degree bag.

I believe the ratings for that system includes wearing quite a bit of the ECWS clothing, which I believe is or was the polypro base layers, a 300 wt top and 200 wt bottom. The bivy is nice for what it is, although it could be improved with bug netting. I wouldn't bother with the rest at any price if I had to carry it.
