Planning a trip in Yosemite during Jan. Just wondering if REI Zen 25F plus liner will be suffice?

I would say it all depends on the weather. Are you gonna snowshoe out to Dewey Point or somewhere up there, or staying low? If it is stormy, you may be fine until it clears off. Check weather before heading out, I would go with a 15F bag at least, as sleeping in the snow, on the cold snow, seems to require a little more. You may need a warmer bag, depending on if a cold front comes down from Canada or Alaska. You do have two pads right? Or at least a DAM pad? Have fun.

One time we had organized a beginner snow camping trip for Yosemite in January, and the destination was Westfall Meadow. The beginners were told to be equipped with a sleeping bag good for at least +10F. Well, that night it got down to about -10F. There were some pretty frosty stares that morning for breakfast.

Since its the first time snow camping, were deciding to stay in the valley at upper pines.
