Okay, this sounds stupid, but how do you zip up a jacket. I am talking about the light weight stuff where a piece of material gets caught in the zipper.

More specifically it is my NB Fugu jacket, but it happens on others occasionally. For me the best way is to pull down on the bottom of the jacket to hold the entire zipper taunt, and then rarely is there a problem. However if it is really cold out, and especially if I am wearing gloves, the zipper just knows this is the absolute worst time for me to get material caught in the zipper, so it gets stuck anyway, just to show me who is in charge.

Stick a finger into your jacket directly above and, for all intents and purposes, laying on top of your zipper as you zip it up. But don't zip it fast when you do this.

Zip up slowly as indicated …. And pull it outwards slightly

The other thing is to test whatever jacket you are going to buy in store with gloves on

And dont cut off the pull tabs ;)

Legitimate question and all outlined methods are effective. Remember the days before anyone thought to back a zipper with tape or a strip of fabric? Nuts.
