This one goes out to you Injinji sock wearers. Is there any practical advantage of using toesocks over regular socks? Does having material between one's toes (such as with toesocks) prevent or reduce the formation of blisters between the toes?

Thanks…

I used to get annoying little blisters caused by my lesser toes rubbing against reach other. The injinjis eliminated this. The Coolmax ones are also just a nice, fast wicking, fast drying sock that is pretty durable.

My toes all curl in on themselves a bit, which caused for painful blisters between my toes. Injinji toesocks are the only thing that I have found that prevents those blisters from forming. I have used both the synthetic and the wool versions as liner socks and have found both to work equally well.

Stopped my tradition of getting between the toe blisters 100%. I may wear through socks faster but for it is well worth it for the comfort.

Revolutionary for me in preventing blisters between my toes. I use them as liner, however with smartwool socks for extra cushioning.

I bought some of these socks – mostly to work with my 5 Fingers shoes. I tried them a bit but I wasn't digging the comfort or the bit of extra hassle to get them on. Then again, I never have trouble with blisters between my toes so there's really no problem to solve in my case.

yeah, i have some for use with VFF as well. I like them, but hate the effort to put them on. They are really comfy though.

On putting the socks on? They shouldn't be hard unless you have odd shaped toes – such as a super short pinkie. Anyhow…..they eventually get your toes "shape" and slip right on. The only time I cannot put on my Injinis is when I am 5 months or more pregnant and then I just have my husband put them on.

And if they feel weird at first, that feeling goes away in 15 minutes…….

PS: I only wear one layer of sock. What I found was with good fitting shoes, good inserts and fitting socks I didn't need anymore layers. One reason behind blisters in the toes can be your feet get too hot/sweaty. Which mine did. The Injini breathe so well my feet are cool most of the time now.

Injinji toe socks are the only socks I wear for running and hiking, even started just wearing them around town

They work.

Like others have mentioned, Injinji socks are the only socks I wear for running or hiking and have yet to get a blister yet so I will keep using them. They are pricey and I wished they lasted longer but I can't complain too much.

+6 or whatever we're up to now.

Injinji socks have eliminated my problems with toe blisters. I used to always get blisters on my pinky toes and the toes right next to them no matter what socks I tired. I'd read all the success stories from other Injinji users and decided to take the plunge. Glad I did!

I use both the merino and the Coolmax varities and find both to work great. Even with wet feet/shoes, the socks do their job superbly. I pretty much just pick my material choice based on expected weather. Cold/wet= merino, warm/not-so-wet= coolmax. I've tried the liners too, but I'm not really sure they contribute to anything other than the challenge of putting an extra pair of socks on each time.

For whatever reason, I always have trouble getting them on, so it's a bit of a pain to put them off and on quickly, but I solved that by just pretty much leaving them on all day until I'm ready to go to bed. A small price to pay for blister-free piggies.

I love mine for hiking. Smartwool also has toe socks now, I found that the fabric was a bit looser, so it was easier to get on my toes, but possibly slipped around more. I use Hydropel ointment between my toes as well, and I haven't gotten blisters since using both. The first few times I wore the toe socks, without the ointment, the bit between my toes seemed to cut into my feet between the toes, which was uncomfortable. With the ointment and the injinji socks, not the smartwool ones, I never have a problem.

I'm not sure what I'll do for winter wear, as the toe socks are necessarily rather thin. I suspect I'll add a thin Smartwool merino sock on top, to take up a little more room in my winter boots.

I tried them because they were cool-looking. But I realized they do not serve a purpose for me at all, as I have never developed blisters *between* the toes. And, they do take longer than normal socks to put on. So I won't be buying another pair.

I'll add my voice to the list of happy users. Cured my in between the toe blisters. I like how they feel on the feet.

I'm in the same boat as Elizabeth on this issue. I thought they did a decent job of preventing some blisters, but I think 'airing' out your socks and feet regularly work better for me and the Injinji's are a pain in the butt to repeatedly take off and put on throughout the hiking day to 'air out the dogs'.
I'm also a little sceptical on their durability. They don't last near as long as my Drymax socks, and don't breath as well either. If a person had MAJOR issues with blisters between their toes these may be of help. If that is a big issue, you may want to get a shoe with a wider toe box first.

Used my Injinji's for racquetball this morning. They really help out with all the sudden transitions on my poor toes.

Everybody's feet are different. If you read "How to Fix Your Feet" you see that the author gives multiple cases, causes and solutions. There is no one size fits all solution when it comes to feet.

That said, Injinji's are the best solution I have found yet. Every time I buy a new pair of hiking boots/shoes, I give it a go without the toesocks and invariably return back to the Injinji's. They help me go blister free on my short and long hiking trips, which is something that I never was able to do before I started using them.

So, as others have said, if you find you are prone to getting blisters between your toes, Injinji's may be a good solution for you. Hydropel or other foot lube may be a viable solution. Also, as others have said, if you don't have footwear that is sufficiently wide enough in the footbox, that could be part of your problem as well.
