I am putting together a snowshoe trip into Emmigrant Wilderness in January 7th and 8th.
We will hike towards Crabrtree Meadows trailhead and camp somewhere along the way. This is more of a trip to meet others that like traveling in winter time on snow as well as hone skills, develop more skills or to learn about snow camping. I would like to keep this at a group size of 10. No prior experience required except that you want to have fun and learn about snow camping.

Trip cancellation is subject to storms rolling in from the Pacific Ocean.

I'm intersted.

I'll need to find/rent snowshoes and maybe cobble together some other cold weather gear which I don't own much of… well lightweight at least. I've got a german army surplus winter parka that probably weighs 5lbs.

I am interested. I have a feeling I committed to another trip that weekend, however it's nowhere to be found on my calendar.

Sounds like a good time, what kind of mileage? I believe your original post said 7-8 miles?

Total mileage would be around 8 miles or so. We'd be hiking along an unplowed road

If there is room I am interested. I cant commit 100% just yet but I am 90% sure I can make that weekend.

Hey everyone, I think the trip is being moved to a later date in Jan., I talked with Ken Sat. to figure out what will work best. I'll keep you posted.

I can't make it the weekend of the 7th and 8th but now that you are thinking about moving it to a different weekend I'm definitely interested. I would like to do a few snow trips this winter.

Moving this to the last Sat. of January. It will give me more time for my back to heal as well as some better snow. Keep in mind, if we do get a major storm coming in then We reschedule. I don't have a calender in front of me, so I will post the date later today

Folks lets make this trip Feb. 4th if that is alright with you. I have been recovering from a herniated disc and early January is going to be too difficult for me. I am at about 75% of being back to normal. Same desination and such. Let's hope for good weather and some fun times!

Thanks Mark. I would have posted the one when the Moment really seen a bunch of snow, but you couldn't even tell it was a Moment under all the snow, so this was the next pic that I liked. I think Henry at TT even has a pic of it in the photo gallery on his web site. YEAH! can't wait for another snow trip, my favorite time of year.

This tent is bomber, and I'll put it up against any 4 season tent. Well at least in the Sierra, Ha! Ha!
