I’ve been giving some thought to the idea of modifying my Golite Hex 3 to incorporate the Mountain Hardwear Kiva–style storm flaps which run along the bottom edge. I think my Hex is great, but in inclement weather I can’t seem to get the tent pitched close enough to the ground to keep that breeze out – and my GF gives me grief about it, bless her…
So I figured I could sew some popper attachments (say 3-4 per ‘hex’) onto each bottom edge of the tent and simply attach a piece of material (I have an old ripstop poncho which is just the right length) with corresponding poppers sewn into it so the material hangs down and blocks the breeze on each of the hexagonal sections. I could then remove the material if extra ventilation was needed etc.
Just wanted to sense check it with you guys to see if it was the best possible solution before my Hex goes ‘under the knife’!
