Hi folk,
Any recommendations of good outdoor shops on Michigan in the tri city area.
I checked out Eb, Tnf and Columbia in Birch run already.
Cheers,
Stephen

Moosejaw is based in MI with 5 or 6 stores.
Thanks Ben
Not sure (based on the stores you've listed) whether you're looking for backpacking gear or clothes or…?
In any case, come down to Ann Arbor! We have Bivouac, a smaller Moosejaw and an REI for backpacking gear and clothes. For more general "outdoor" stuff, there's also a huge Cabela's a little further south.
Thanks Sumi,
I am moving from Europe to Midland and just checking out what backpacking stores are around.
Cheers
You must work for Dow. Where will you go backpacking ? I wish I could help you with the shopping, but I can not think of anywhere. Maybe doing a road trip to Ann Arbor is your best bet? It seems like Saginaw would have some places to shop.
Hi Helen,
Thanks for the advice, I will check out Saginaw and Ann Arbour.
I will be mainly backpacking in Northern Michigan, East Coast mountains, and in Ireland and the UK.
Cheers,
Stephen
p.s. I work for the "other" Dow.
As some of the others have already mentioned, REI is probably your best bet, the Northville store is probably the largest of the 3 store, Ann Arbor, and Troy being the other 2 stores.
Here's a couple more:

Cheers Michael,
I have a good few options with two hours drive.
Have a great weekend,
Stephen

If you're looking for UL gear, Bivouac in Ann Arbor is much better, imo. Brad Grove, who's a contributor at BPL, worked there until recently (we miss you!) and did a lot, I think, to bring in non-mainstream gear. Western Mountaineering bags, Granite Gear packs, alcohol stoves, even some quilts (which I haven't seen anywhere else around the midwest.) Hammock gear as well. They also price match.
zen!
Hi folks,
Cheers for letting me know, sounds like l will have plenty of places to keep me on gear.
Thanks all,
Check out The Outpost, Holland or Go Gear, Muskegon
Will do Ken.
Cheers.
