Equinox Bivy

BPL just put out an article detailing numerous bivy option including the Equinox bivy. I believe there are several threads in the forums regarding this bivy. Also try backpackgeartest.org for more info. Although, if I remember right, some of the testers had earlier or prototype versions of the bivy

I own this bivy(the only bivy I own) but have used it a limited numer of times in the field.

Regarding cost: First, Equinox has taken up the low budget niche. Most/all of their products are cheap. Second, their products(including their bivy) tend to be very basic and somewhat undistiguishable. Neither of these things are bad, just the way it is. It is akin to buying a Toyota Yaris/Tercel rather than a Toyota Avalon or Lexus. Less features and details means less cost.

My Equinox bivy has good quality(is built well with no obvious problems) and seems to function properly. I have no complaints. The bivy is shorter than most. I am 6 ft tall and the Equinox bivy has just enough room for me and a light sleeping bag

I too own one. A no frills bivy that has good construction and such. Well worth the money. The best part is that it is cheap! Buy it!

I have the Equinox and an MLD bivy. The Equinox is a really great value for the weight. Its very basic (meaning inexpensive and extra lightweight) but does most jobs well.

What it doesn't do is provide any kind of bug protection for your head so you'll need something to handle that in certain seasons (I currently use an A16 Bug Bivy — but would love to find something that packs up smaller).

The MLD is a really excellent bivy (definately better designed and built); but I find I take the Equinox more as it weighs less and fits most of my needs very well.
