Howdy

I'm currently planning for an upcoming endurance event (a 24hour Rogaine) mid next year. I plan to use a hydration bladder with hose for it (I've always used them for Rogaines, it works better for me when I'm moving that fast. I'll be supplementing it with a small bottle for mixing up gatorade).

I'm wondering what the current offerings are like in terms of weight/reliability. I'll need a 2-3L bladder. I used to use the original platypus ones, but they were always messy (they were easy to undo the lid accidentally in the pack when quickly shoving things in or moving around fast on rough terrain, saturating everything) and I didn't like the mouth piece, and recently I've used camelbak ones (bought one mid 2010) and found them quite reliable and I like the mouth piece and the tap for it, though they seem a bit heavy.

My brother had an Integral Designs roll top one a few years back but it broke really quickly (can't remember how now but we were really dissapointed).

Anything else out there that I should try and look at?

I have a newer 3L platy and have never had an issue with the hose->bladder point opening and leaking while putting it into my bag.

I also have a a sawyer in-line filter with it.

Hi Steven

do you have the Hoser or the big zip version? The big zip looks like it has a similar style hose/bladder point to the camelbaks, which is quite reliable. The Hoser versions look like the old style, which I found is prone to coming undone in the past-the hose exerts a twisting motion on the cap, working it loose. I used to use it with the cap up top and then a piece of hose inside going to the bottom, but that was annoying as it was more fiddly and your hose would go dry before it was empty (which wastes time as you'd get it out and drink from it before you could refill it at the next water drop). From the picture of the Hoser it doesn't look like they've done anything to address the potential twisting issue.

Thanks mate
