BPL 500 Titanium Pot

One aspect of our capitalist system is that companies charge whatever the market will bear. Campbell Soup charges more for their less salty soups! You'd think that using less salt would actually lower the cost of production — but regardless of that, companies will charge whatever they believe they can get away with.

Actually, the higher cost of the handle-less pot is a reflection of the higher cost of small-batch manufacturing. BPL ordered fewer without handles than with, so the per-unit cost of the handle-less pot was higher.

Jason, here's my plan: I just ordered the one with handles too, but I'm going to yank the handles when it gets here (assuming they mount like standard ti handles). The mounting hardware weighs practically nothing, and I can experiment and decide if I REALLY prefer a handle-less pot, or if my judgment has been clouded by excessive inhalation of fuel fumes.

SO, the really devious part of the scheme emerges! If I decide that I like handle-less pots better, I'll be compelled to buy the no-handle FireLite pot to feel tidy. I recommend that a cast-iron Dutch oven be part of Ryan's Siberian exile kit!

I had the same idea about the handles. I was wondering how easy they are to remove and replace so I could just remove them or replace them according to whatever I like better.

I'm hoping that they're easy to remove and replace, just like the handles on my MSR Titan.

They're pieces of one of those flexible silicon cookie sheets. I attached them to the pot with silicon gasket sealant, so they should come off fairly easily if I decide I don't like them. I think I got that idea from you, actually!
