I am looking to buy some DX40 but do not want to pay the twenty dollar cutting fee for under ten yards. Would anyone be interested in a group buy? I only need two yards.
Thanks guysOct 19, 2011 at 2:02 pm #1792598How much is it a yard? (absent the cutting fee)
I'd likely be interested.
Oct 19, 2011 at 2:11 pm #1792606Michael,
When did the cutting fee go up to twenty dollars? The last time I emailed Hale it was $10.00.
Party On,
Newton
Oct 19, 2011 at 2:26 pm #1792611David- 24$ per yardyard plus shipping. Its really burly stuff. Should be really good for pack bottoms.
Newton- I think they just recently went up. Shame too, at ten dollars a yard I would have done it but twenty is only four dollars less than the material itself.
Oct 19, 2011 at 2:30 pm #1792614Michael, are they out of seconds?
Javan and I got 10 yds of seconds a while back @ $12/yd. Javan made some collars for his great danes out of it, but we haven't used it for anything else so far. It's the burliest fabric I've laid my hands on, but definitely not light.
Oct 19, 2011 at 2:41 pm #1792627The pricing sheet I have did not have secondslisted. I will contact hale and ask though. Thanks Chris
Oct 19, 2011 at 3:09 pm #1792641They are out of DX40 2nds. The sheet I got several weeks ago only had 3 yds left even then.

Oct 19, 2011 at 5:33 pm #1792696Thanks Ryan. So it looks like it will be 24$ for firsts. If anyone wants in let me know.
Oct 19, 2011 at 6:27 pm #179271724 a yard is too dear for me at the moment.
Oct 19, 2011 at 11:43 pm #1792842…in a yard or two…tops…PM me.
Oct 21, 2011 at 7:08 am #1793362Checking one last time to see if there is any interest. PM me if interested or post in the thread.
Oct 22, 2011 at 4:55 pm #1793862Ordering Tuesday. If you want in it, the cutting fee will continue to become fractions of 20 so feel free to join in.
Oct 23, 2011 at 1:52 am #1793958Could somebody post a photo of this fabric please.
What do you think. Would it be possible to use the DX40 as deck for snowshoes?
Oct 23, 2011 at 9:01 am #1793983There is a pack made on these forums out of it. I sent my samples to my brother but I will get him to post a picture.
What do you mean by a deck fir snowshoes? If you mean a place to strap snow shoes, then yes. This material is extremely burly. The warp is 600 denier dyneema if I remember correctly.
Ill double check when I get back home on the denier but im pretty sure that is right. It also has an 800 d dyneema ripstop and the diamond pattern usually seen on xpac fabrics.
Oct 23, 2011 at 9:18 am #1793986The construction is:
Dyneema/Polyester face fabric
Black polyester X-Ply yarn
¼ mil PET film
50 denier polyester backing
The face fabric construction is:
Warp: 400d Dyneema
Fill: 125d polyester
Ripstop: 800d Dyneema on warp and fill
Oct 23, 2011 at 9:35 am #1793990Thanks Chris. A little off from memory. Regardless, it is tough stuff.
Oct 23, 2011 at 9:35 am #1793991Here's DX40 with some VX21
Oct 23, 2011 at 9:40 am #1793993I would like to add to my brothers post that the spec I received from Hale had the DX40 listed a 6.9 ounces not 7.9. I'm not sure which is correct though.
Oct 24, 2011 at 12:01 am #1794223Thanks for the photos.
I'm thinking about to make a pair of snowshoes for me and instead of a hypalon deck (MSR Lightning Ascent) I would use the lighter DX40
Oct 24, 2011 at 10:53 am #1794333I do not know much about snow shoes. Maybe someone else will comment here?
