I recently bought a Jetboil Sol Ti and have noticed that a lot of people on the hiking blogs are not using the measuring cup as a coffee cup. I wonder why. It seems to me that it serves three purposes, coffee cup, measuring cup, and heat transfer fin protector. Plus it stows nicely on the pot and it is BPA free according to JetBoil (who I emailed about that)

Now if I wanted to splurge and really be cool I would follow Hendrik's advice from Hiking in Finland and get a Kuksa cup: http://www.amazon.com/Ancient-Lapland-Finland-Wooden-Drinking/dp/B0053RRSA0

Do the new jetboils still have the slot at the top of the lid for sipping out of? That's what I use for a coffee cup with my older one. Neoprene cozy keeps my coffee warm for much longer. I use the measuring cup as a bowl for oatmeal in the morning and it seems to work ok for that.

I have used the JetBoil cup this way more than a few times, but I have found that it is an awkward cup for coffee. It only holds about a cup which puts it almost to the brim and the wide shape makes it awkward to hold and sip out of for me. I have the older JetBoil which I think has a slightly more pliable cup than the newer ones so that might make a difference. I have also used the JetBoil itself with the sipper top as my coffee cup, but I find that I want to boil water for coffee and then while that is sitting (or I am sipping) then boil water for breakfast — hard to do both in the same pot. I finally relented and picked up a GSI lightly insulated cup (thin outer sleeve, no handle, sipper top) for $6 and about 3 oz. to use for my morning joe.
