cooking pot with handles

I can't comment on weight issues, but I can interject some experience with the heating issues. About the only way I've ever had wire handles heat up was when the flame of the heat source was licking up the sides of the pot over my esbit stove. Being careful where you place it over your heat source, you should be fine as far as heating.

As for weight, how heavy are your pot grabber thingies?

I have the Evernew .9L titanium pot. I haven't noticed them ever being too hot to touch, but I use an alcohol stove. I significantly prefer these to the pot grabber since it is another thing to lose and it weighs quite a bit. I think my pot weighs 4.9 oz with lid.

One pot that I would like to get is the montbell that has a small skillet for a lid, but I'm not sure how much I would use that though. And it weighs more (an extra oz).

I would also strongly recommend the Evernew .9L pot. The handles are cool enough to pick up in bare hands even after it has been on a stove for an extended period of time melting and then boiling snow. The Evernew .9L pot is one of four items that I currently consider "perfect"

Thanks, good to know that the handles don't get too hot
and they would probably loose what heat they had quick enough.
A little pain is OK but not too much.
My pot grabber thingy has been cut down and holes drilled
into it so it weighs little but it is relatively bulky
for what it is and compared to the pot handles which
fold flat to the pot.
I will look at the pots you recommend.

PS. I use an alcohol stove.

Ian, I would agree with Mark's assessment of the Evernew 0.9 pot. It's just perfect for my use. The handles have never gotten too hot to hold with my bare hands. IMO, the handles are much more convenient to use than pot grippers. I'm not sure if there is a weight advantage over your potgrippers,though; the easily removable handles weigh 0.7 oz on my scale.

One thing to keep in mind when using the Evernew with alcohol stoves is that the coating on the handles can melt if they come into contact with the flame. Not a big deal; just something to keep an eye on.
