In reference to the article: "Frameless Backpacks: Engineering Analysis of the Load Carrying Performance of Selected Lightweight Packs" located at:
http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/00194.html

I'm thinking of ordering the Jam2 when available. It's my understanding that the sizing will be the same as the current Jam. If my torso length is 19", a Medium according to Golite's website, should I actually order a large?

I have to order online as there are no retailers where I live.

Thanks for any help you can give.

There are others here who can probably give a more accurate answer, but here's my two cents. I have a current model Jam size M, my torso is 18" and it fits me perfectly, but for a 19" torso I think I would lean towards a large. This is assuming the new model is sized the same as the original.

I have an 18" torso length. I find M (18"-20" – Gust, Jam, Trek, Breeze, Dawn) fits better (though just a tad larger than i might prefer, but still really works well for me) than the S (15"-18" – which i only have in the Gust and it really seems too small for me) in the various GoLite packs that i own. BTW, just in case anyone can make use of this additonal info, this is just the opposite of my experience with the GG G5 pack. My 18" torso is supposed to be accomodated by both the S (16"-19") and the M (18"-22") sized G5 packs. The M was definitely too big and the S fit fine, though the shoulder straps were just a tad shorter than i would have preferred on the S size G5.

I'm only guessing, but since your 19" torso length is right smack dab in the middle of the M size range, you might consider going with a size M. Often a pack fits the MIDDLE of its torso range best, but still manages to accomodate those on either side of the mid-range.

Maybe Mr. Skurka will see your post and answer you based upon his extensive experience.

My torso has been measured as 20 3/4 in and I think the size large jam fits me perfectly. So if yours is 19 in I would definitely go with the medium.
