DId a 3 day trip through the UP's trap hills over the summer, I've been meaning to type up this trip report for a while. The hike that I did was a point to point, starting at the intersection of the Gogebic Ridge Trail and M-64, and ending at the Old Victoria site off of the North Country Trail. The total mileage was about ~35mi, which for me is not bad for 3 days (I can't afford to be as UL as I'd like haha). I left my car at Old Victoria and had the fine people at Superior Shores Resort (http://www.superior-shores-resort.com/) shuttle me to my starting point.
As for the actual trail, it was fairly incredible. It was actually a lot tougher than I imagined, not necessarily physically tough as the biggest vertical hills you face are only ~500 foot climbs, but the terrain and the lack of markings made it very difficult. Its hard to describe how hard the trail was to follow it certain segments, probably because of the nearly nonexistant traffic that comes through there. I only saw one group of people on the trail, oddly enough, a large youth group. However on the second and third day I saw no one on the trail. This was really my first big solo outing, and like I said before it was mentally tough. To not have anyone else with me just to chat with and keep in good spirits was kind of rough, especially on the last day. Anyways here are the pictures, I would love to answer any questions people have about the trap hills.

Looks like the most panoramic views you will ever see in Michigan. Thanks for the report and shuttle info.
