Has anyone used these ground cloths? I am wondering if they would be suitable to use the material to make a tarp. The weight of the fabric is 1.06 oz/yd2 given the specs on GG's website, so it seems like the material would be heavy enough. If they are suitable for sewing it would be possible to make a ~58" wide version of the spintarp X. A 9' long version would weigh ~6 oz and cost about $40.

I wonder what the repercussions would be of the shrinkage in hot weather.. I would suspect 9' would turn into around 8.4' (guessing of course)in high 80s heat.

Does spinnaker fabric shrink in hot weather? This is something I have not heard of before.

I suck! When I replied, I was thinking of the Polycryo, sorry. They do say that the Spinnsheet is not waterproof though so I am not sure what the advantage would be for using it as a shelter.

There is an article on here from a couple of weeks ago that made a tarp from spinnaker. Five yards to superultralight part 3.
