I need a filtration system for the weekend. I ordered a Sawyer inline filter, but the shipment is delayed and time has run out. This might be a simple question, but I've never worked with this filter system.
I have (or will have tomorrow) the following:
Platy Big Zip SL 3L
http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Packs/HydrationPacks/BottlesAccessories/PRD~5015-811/platypus-big-zip-sl-hydration-system.jspPlatypus Gravityworks Filter Hose Kit
http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/HikingCamping/WaterTreatment/WaterFilters/PRD~5024-137/platypus-gravityworks-filter-hose-kit.jspMy question is, can I simply buy the "cartridge" below and hook it up with the above bladder and hose kit, or are there more attachments I need to complete the rig?

As long as the filter has a friction fitting the hose slides on to, you should be good to go. (Do you have a second container for the filtered water?) I've never seen the cartridge in person and am assuming it doesn't have quick-connect fittings.
Cheers,
Rick

Unfortunately I'm not able to see it before I go to buy it and I haven't found a good photo of the cartridge online.
I do have another Platy for clean water, but the clean end of the system doesn't worry me as much, I can always have it flow straight into a pot. :)
Cheers!

You can definitely just fill containers straight from the filter, as needed. I found the instructions on line, here. They're press-on fittings.
