I've camped a few nights at extreme altitude, and I can say for sure that I was glad that I wasn't using an alcohol stove up there.

Where are you quoting those energy figures from? I have some figures from Wikipedia (admittedly not authoritative) that are close but different. I'm wondering if your figures are better.
