Here's a new thread for this, so the instructions are at the top. Be careful to follow the instructions carefully; a few people have renamed the map as themselves, or have ended up in the Pacific Ocean!

    Okay, here we go:

1: Log into your Google account (this is necessary).

    2: Go here: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=217710768001213283190.0004ac9ffae6ae244e691

    3: Click "Edit."

    4. Click on the blue pin button, and then drop your pin.

    5. Edit your info in the pin's pop-up detail bubble (not somewhere else): I'd use a non-specific location (e.g. No—I don't actually live on Jeld-Wen field), and include a link to your profile for PMing, rather than email, as to not encourage the spambots. The map is set for anyone to edit, and anyone with a link to see.

Also, please be careful not to drag and drop someone else's pin elsewhere—for some reason Google allows this even outside the edit mode.

Let me know if anything needs changing. All credit to Bryce, who thought to make this.

    Chris

    bump with the info.

Please read and understand the instructions before attempting placing yourself on the map. People keep changing the title and wind up not posting anything to their location. Please include a link to your profile too please.

You're right, Ken. I've tried to figure out a way to put everything on one page, but no luck. If anyone has a solution…

You can now view all the pins on one page by using this link: http://goo.gl/maps/6lxQ

To edit, you still need to use the other instructions.

Good job Chris. Man there are a lot of BPLrs in CA.

Hikers in Seattle are stuck in traffic – unable to go hiking or post on the BPL Member Map

I just added a pin for myself. I'm rather NW of the PNW.

Some of us prefer not to have where we live pinpointed on a map, thanks anyway.

I go to Seattle at least monthly and have found their traffic no worse (and no better!) than Portland's. Rush hour in either city is impossible.

Mary you can put one in the closest city or just the state. But nobody is forcing you to.

Put it in a local park. No exact location required. We already know about your TP preferences. Could be more vague on that.

Don't forget to link your profile.

Mary, put a pin at these coordinates:

    It's Portlandia!
